Why do I get a Device Timeout Message when I start I/O Express?

A device timeout, when you execute the startup command, indicates that I/O Express was not able to initiate the driver within the timeout period of 30 seconds. When this occurs, one of two scenarios could be causing the timeouts:

The first and most obvious is that an earlier demo version of I/O Express was on the system and the old driver with the expiration flag has not been taken off the system yet. If this is the case, reboot the system to erase the old driver and execute the IOX-STARTUP. This will initialize the current driver and I/O Express will start up.

Another possibility is that you have upgraded VMS. If this is the case, reinstall I/O Express from the distribution medium to get the correct executable image for the new version of VMS.
