Why is my FAU output showing "#free spaces = 0% of total"?
This is a function of the way the percentage is calculated. We take the accumulated free space, which we have been adding together and multiply by 1000 to do the conversion to percent. If this results in a number larger than the largest number that can be stored in a longword, the FAU will show "# of Free Spaces = 0% of Total". The largest number that can be stored in a longword is 2,147,483,647.
This will be more prevalent because disks are getting bigger and people are more aware of fragmentation, even before they fill up their disks.
