The FAU and SHOW DEV D disagree and COPY/ALLOCATE doesn't change anything
In this case, we recommend dismounting and remounting the disk volume, then running Analyze/Disk/Repair (A/D/R) on the volume. This recommendation comes from Digital. This is a known problem and will be addressed in a future release of VMS.
The first recommended action is still COPY /ALLOCATION=1000000000, but if that doesn't solve the problem, dismount, re-mount, and A/D/R will. Ensure that A/D/R is run with full privileges, especially BYPASS, and that nothing is accessing the disk when you run A/D/R.
