The FAU does not run on one disk. It just sits there using CPU time
This is very unusual. When a disk is extremely fragmented, it can take the FAU several hours to evaluate the disk. The solution is to set up a batch job to run the FAU using the "/FULL and /OUTPUT=
" qualifiers. This will run for quite a while, perhaps 5 to 8 hours. Once it finishes, you can look at the output file and see what the badly fragmented files are. This is very unusual.
