Runs later each day
When Diskeeper is scheduled to run every so many hours, what it does is to run, and when it finishes, adds the specified number of hours to the current time, and reschedules to run at that time. Say you have set Diskeeper to run every 24 hours, like this:
Run: every 24 hours
When: everyday
Between: all day
And: (greyed out)
Let's say the job starts at 6:00 PM and runs for one hour. It will reschedule for 24 hours later, at 7:00 PM the next day. If it runs for one hour every time it runs, the start time will advance one hour every day. If you want the job to run at the same time every day, you must specify the time. Bear in mind that Diskeeper will finish the pass it is on when the end time occurs, even if you told it to run, say, 12:00 PM to 1:00 AM. To have Diskeeper run every midnight, use:
Run: continuously
When: everyday
Between: 12:00
PM
And: 1:00
AM
This job will always start at midnight (or a few minutes after), and will run over and over, but will not start a new pass after 1:00 AM. If you want Diskeeper to make only one pass, replace "Run: continuously" with any other value.
