Executive Software's Fragmentation Analysis Utility for OpenVMS for Alpha and VAX is available here to download to help you determine if you suffer from disk fragmentation
Important Notes
-
The Fragmentation Analysis Utility and the supporting documentation each take a couple of minutes to download when the web is operating at good speed. Plan to download at a time convenient for you when Internet access is slow.
-
If you are using the Netscape browser when downloading, you will get a message that there is no external viewer configured for this file type. You are given the option saving to disk, cancelling the transfer, or configuring a viewer. Choose
Save to Disk
to download.
-
The files have been renamed from an .EXE extension to a .PGM extension for ease of download.
-
If you download this to a PC that does not support extended file naming conventions (i.e. greater than 8 characters with a 3 character extension), then after you have loaded it back to OpenVMS, you must rename the executable file to
frag_analysis.pgm
-
The documentation is very thorough and tells you both how to run the utility and how to interpret the report the utility produces. It is provided in both ASCII and Postscript format. If you elect to download the ASCII version, it will first be displayed to you by Netscape. Simply choose
Save
from the File Menu bar to save it to disk.
