st
1998: Executive Software, the leading developer of system management tools for the enterprise, announced development of a new version of their best-selling Diskeeper defragmenter which will be the first automatic product of its kind for the Windows 95/98 platform. The new version will enable network administrators to remotely schedule and control disk defragmentation on all Windows 32-bit desktops such as Windows 95/98 and NT.
S
teve Lake, Executive Softwares UK Managing Director, said: "Most of our customers have mixed networks with both Windows NT and Windows 95/98 running. Theyve told us they wish they could control defragmentation and increase performance on Windows 95/98 clients as easily as Diskeeper 4.0 enables them to maintain peak performance for Windows NT. This new version of Diskeeper does exactly that."
D
iskeeper is the original "Set It and Forget It" disk defragmenter and was the first to be developed from the ground up for Windows NT. Recently Microsoft included a manual version of Diskeeper within the Windows NT 5.0 (Windows 2000) operating system itself. The new Diskeeper versions, which are scheduled to ship in the first quarter of 1999, can intelligently detect which Windows operating system is in use and install the correct version.
A
ccording to Windows Magazine: "Defragmenting your hard disk is one of the essentials of performance tuning. Executive Softwares Diskeeper has emerged as the most extensive disk defrag program."
D
iskeeper provides faster access to files. Software loading times and database search times can be cut in half. Performance can be increased for Web servers, e-mail servers, graphics and financial applications. Multimedia and video applications are kept smooth and synchronised.
T
he full-featured server version of Diskeeper is the only Windows NT defragmenter with central network controls that allow administrators to schedule, monitor and launch defragmentation across any network, whether it extends down the hall or across the country. This feature saves network administrators from having to visit each desktop to defragment its disks.
T
he Microsoft Press book "Running Microsoft Windows NT Server 4.0" describes Diskeeper as "The most commonly used disk defragmentation program for Windows NT". Diskeeper is certified as Microsoft BackOffice compatible and it speeds performance for the entire family of BackOffice server products. Diskeeper 95/98/NT runs on IntelÒ platforms and Diskeeper for Windows NT server runs under Windows NT 4.0.
E
xecutive Software has set the standard for safely eliminating file fragmentation and increasing performance for dynamic enterprise-class systems for the last twelve years, beginning with the release of Diskeeper for Digital Equipment Corp's VMSÒ operating system - an enterprise system with which Windows NT has shared development roots.
