Executive Software Network Undelete is Released to Manufacturing

G lendale, CA. -- April 22, 1998: Executive Software International, maker of the Diskeeper ^® disk defragmenter and provider of the defragmentation technology in Windows NT ^® 5.0, has announced their breakthrough new product: Executive Software Network Undelete for Windows NT. Developed from the ground up for the Windows NT network, it is the only file recovery utility that allows system administrators to connect to users computers and recover lost files over the entire network. The software was released to Manufacturing today.

J eff Serota, a Network Administrator with MAJic Technology in Irvine Calif., said: "I just had a user who accidentally formatted a ZIP disk and deleted all the files off the disk. The files were destroyed and could not have been recovered even from back-up tape as ZIP drives are removable disks that are not backed-up. O ther exclusive features of Executive Software Network Undelete include:

The Recovery Bin: This provides expanded features and replaces the Windows NT Recycle Bin to capture a broader range of deleted files. This includes files that are deleted from the command line, Windows NT File Manager, and all other applications that do not currently send files to the Recycle Bin. It undeletes all files that were deleted using the standard Windows NT delete procedures. The Recovery Bin functions in a similar way to the NT Recycle Bin for local users, with the additional benefit that system administrators can connect to the users local bin when he needs support.
Undelete Direct From Disk: Executive Software Network Undelete includes breakthrough file recovery technology that enables system administrators to undelete files directly from any NTFS or FAT disk drive on the network. If a user discovers that he's deleted an important file, even after he has also purged his Recovery Bin, the system admin can get it back for him. The Undelete From Disk feature is most successful when done immediately after the file was deleted, as disk activity may cause the file to be overwritten.
Emergency Undelete Feature: This insightful function is used to recover files that were accidentally deleted even before the user installs the full Executive Software Network Undelete product. Emergency Undelete allows the user to run the product from a CD. This precaution prevents the installation of the product itself from overwriting the very same file that it is being used to recover. One beta user saved herself two months of work by using this feature to recover some accidentally deleted database and software development files.
Full Security: Only the owner of a file or his network administrator can recover files from the users' Recovery Bin. Undelete from Disk can only be accessed with administrator privileges. Executive Software Network Undelete and the client version fully support Windows NT security permissions and privileges and are fully compliant with government C-2 security as supported by Windows NT.
